• Shift Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: Potential call requirements based on patient census
• Floating: May float to postpartum and other assigned units as needed
• Orientation: 40 hours

Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements

• Valid Registered Nurse license in California; compact license must be active and in hand when applicable
• At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience; 2 years preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• AWHONN Intermediate certification required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Current experience with Epic electronic health record documentation
• Strong clinical skills in fetal monitoring, labor management, high-risk deliveries, cesarean recovery, and postpartum care
• Ability to work every other weekend and adapt to unit needs, including floating when required
• Commitment to providing compassionate, safe, and patient-centered maternal and newborn care

Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns
• Perform obstetric triage, assessments, sterile vaginal examinations, and ongoing maternal-fetal monitoring
• Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and changes in maternal condition
• Manage labor interventions, including oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensive therapy, insulin infusions, epidural anesthesia, and other prescribed treatments
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, forceps or vacuum extractions, and cesarean sections
• Circulate for cesarean sections and recover patients following cesarean delivery and anesthesia
• Administer medications, blood and blood products, IV therapies, and pain management according to established protocols
• Provide newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, identification and security banding, thermoregulation, metabolic screening, and neonatal resuscitation as needed
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education, discharge teaching, and family education
• Provide postpartum care, including fundus, lochia, perineal, wound, and incision assessments
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
