Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Contract in Midland, Texas

Travel RN Job Details
- Nursing Specialty: Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse
- Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
- Location: Midland, Texas
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250-$2,370
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Duration: 16 weeks, with a minimum of 13 weeks considered
- Schedule: Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:2
- Orientation: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Neonates, infants, and adults
- Charting System: Cerner experience preferred
Labor & Delivery RN Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; pending licensure may be considered at submission but must be active before the start date
- At least 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Previous charge nurse experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and NIHSS certifications
- AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, and FHM certifications preferred
- Proficiency with electronic fetal monitoring, fetal heart rate interpretation, obstetrical triage, and high-risk deliveries
- Ability to float to antepartum as needed
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and teamwork skills
Labor & Delivery Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care throughout the labor and delivery process, including triage, antepartum care, labor, cesarean sections, and newborn transition
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, cesarean sections, forceps or vacuum extractions, and neonatal stabilization
- Circulate for cesarean sections and support sterile procedures
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using external and internal fetal monitoring, NSTs, and IUPCs
- Recognize and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns, pregnancy-induced hypertension, hemorrhage, shock, and postpartum hemorrhage
- Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, insulin drips, antihypertensives, terbutaline, epidural anesthesia, and blood products
- Perform or assist with vaginal examinations, IV starts, Foley catheter management, pain management, and postpartum assessments
- Support infant identification, security banding, APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, breastfeeding, and lactation education
- Maintain accurate documentation while delivering safe, individualized care to patients and families
