Medical-Surgical Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Night Shift Contract in Newburgh, Indiana

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,930-$2,030

- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour nights, 6:30 PM-7:00 AM
- Schedule Requirements: Three weekends within each six-week schedule and every other holiday
- Call Requirement: None
- Unit: 32-bed medical-orthopedic unit
- Work Environment: On-site, team-oriented teaching hospital setting
Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license; current compact license required
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- At least two years of strong medical-surgical nursing experience
- At least one previous travel nursing assignment
- Trauma Level II experience
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Recent Epic charting experience and ability to complete an Epic checkoff class
- Strong patient assessment, organization, communication, and time-management skills
- Ability to float within scope of practice between nearby campuses when needed
Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical and surgical patients throughout the night shift
- Perform focused and head-to-toe assessments, monitor patient status, and communicate changes promptly
- Care for patients with conditions including confusion, behavioral health needs, CIWA, CHF, COPD, UTIs, cellulitis, sepsis, amputations, pressure injuries, and general surgical diagnoses
- Administer IV fluids, antibiotic therapies, and heparin infusions in accordance with established protocols
- Provide wound care and manage wound vacuum therapy
- Perform basic telemetry monitoring and recognize changes requiring intervention
- Document accurately in Epic and collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary care team
- Float within the nurse’s skill set to support patient care needs at nearby campuses with advance notice when applicable
- Support a positive team culture and contribute to the orientation or precepting of students and new hires as needed
