Labor and Delivery RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Labor and Delivery RN experience; high-risk obstetric nursing experience is strongly valued
• Active California Registered Nurse license valid at the time of submission
• Current BLS certification
• Current AWHONN Advanced certification
• Current NRP Advanced certification, including all 11 required components
• Current Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification or equivalent fetal monitoring certification
• ACLS certification, if required by the assignment or facility policy
• Demonstrated ability and experience performing vaginal examinations and providing newborn care
• Experience caring for patients across a range of birth volumes, from fewer than 100 to more than 300 births
• Willingness to comply with professional dress and grooming standards, including covered tattoos, no acrylic nails, natural hair colors, and limited visible piercings
• References and copies of all required certifications must be available for submission
• Holiday time-off requests are limited, and holiday coverage may be required

Travel Labor and Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care for Labor and Delivery and high-risk obstetric patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status and promptly recognize changes in patient condition
• Support labor management, delivery care, postpartum recovery, and newborn care within scope of practice
• Perform and document vaginal examinations and ongoing maternal-fetal assessments
• Administer medications and treatments, implement care plans, and evaluate patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesia, respiratory services, and other interdisciplinary team members
• Provide patient and family education related to labor, delivery, recovery, newborn care, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner and follow unit, regulatory, and professional nursing standards
• Adapt to the needs of a busy LDRP unit while maintaining a high standard of patient-centered care
