Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia, or a pending license in hand by the Wednesday before the start date
- Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
- Full-time Level III NICU experience required; Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred
- BLS and NRP required
- Dr. Brown’s Infant Driven Feeding Certificate required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Strong clinical background in ventilator management, IV drips, hemodynamic support, and neonatal medication calculations
- Ability to float within scope of practice to related areas caring for newborns and infants
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and specialized nursing care to critically ill neonates and infants
- Monitor and manage complex respiratory support, including high-frequency ventilation, conventional ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP, NIPPV/NIMV, and iNO
- Perform and assist with admissions, IV placements, lab draws, line care, wound care, and ostomy care
- Support medication administration, IV fluid titration, ABG interpretation, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Assist with procedures such as intubation, lumbar punctures, PICC placement, umbilical line placement, and chest tube placement
- Provide post-operative and cooling-therapy care for high-acuity neonatal patients
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team members to promote excellent outcomes for patients and families
- Float as needed within scope to L&D, newborn care, pediatrics, and PICU-related infant care areas
