Job Details
- Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Charlottesville, VA
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Schedule: Night shift, 3×12-hour schedule; may also work 36 or 48 hours per week
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,000 – $2,100
- Start Date: 10/12/2026
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2, with 1:1 or 2:1 for higher-acuity assignments
- Weekend Requirement: 3 weekends per 6-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
- Floating: May float to NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics as needed
- Charting System: Epic experience required
- Time Off: Up to 40 hours of RTO per 13-week contract; no additional RTO after offer acceptance
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license; pending Virginia RN license accepted if in hand by the Wednesday before the start date
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar pediatric critical care or PICU setting
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- Epic EHR experience required
- BSN preferred
- Ability to work nights and function effectively in a high-acuity pediatric critical care environment
- Strong experience with pediatric cardiac and medical critical care patients preferred
- Ability to provide required references and complete submission compliance items
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert nursing care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity PICU
- Monitor and manage complex cardiac and medical critical care patients
- Support patients requiring advanced therapies and equipment such as ECMO, VADs, and CRRT
- Perform bedside assessments, interventions, and ongoing clinical surveillance
- Assist with ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, chest tube care, central line management, and other specialized PICU skills
- Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float within scope of practice to support NICU and Acute Care Pediatrics when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and support safe, family-centered care
