Job Details
- Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Employment Type: Travel Assignment
- Setting: Hospital / Children’s Hospital
- Location: Charlottesville, Virginia 22908
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Duration: 26 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,810 – $1,940
- Start Date: October 12, 2026
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Holiday Coverage: Every other holiday, including 2 of the 3 winter holidays
Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- BLS and NRP required
- Virginia state respiratory therapy license required; pending license accepted if a temporary license can be obtained before start
- PALS preferred
- ACCS preferred
- Experience in NICU, pediatric respiratory care, or pediatric critical care strongly preferred
- Must be competent with Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
- Ability to work in a self-scheduling environment and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team
Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across hospital units
- Support NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatric patients
- Perform and assist with advanced respiratory procedures, including intubation support, extubation, ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care
- Manage respiratory therapies and treatments such as aerosol setups, bronchodilator administration, suctioning, airway support, and pulmonary hygiene
- Monitor patient response, interpret ABGs, and communicate clearly with the care team
- Work confidently in a multidisciplinary hospital environment with strong critical thinking and communication skills
- Float within scope of practice as needed across all areas of the children’s hospital
