Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg)
- Location: Peoria, Illinois 61637
- Assignment Length: 15 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour nights
- Hours per Week: 36
- Schedule: Travelers will fill shifts with the greatest need
- Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per schedule period
- Holiday Requirement: Yes, within the core staff rotation
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130 – $2,250
- Charting System: EPIC
- Care Setting: Acute care hospital
- Float Requirement: May float to other general medical units
- Orientation: 1 shift, with additional shifts if needed
- Dress Code: Scrubs of any color
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience in an acute care setting
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Experience with NG placement, Foley placement, blood administration, heparin drips, and insulin drips
- Ability to titrate drips as needed
- Strong clinical judgment and comfort caring for postpartum, hysterectomy, mastectomy, and general med/surg patients
- Must be prepared to complete unit-required submission details, including requested time off and verification items
- Must be able to pass a negative drug screen
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for patients in a Med/Surg women’s care environment
- Care for patients with diagnoses including hysterectomy, mastectomy, postpartum care, and general medical/surgical needs
- Monitor patient conditions and administer medications and therapies safely and accurately
- Titrate heparin and insulin drips according to clinical protocols
- Perform common bedside procedures and support patient comfort and recovery
- Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and the broader healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes
- Adapt to changing unit needs and float to other general medical units when required
- Deliver professional, patient-centered care in a busy acute care nursing environment
