PCU Travel Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: November 30, 2026
• End Date: March 1, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,940-$2,040
• Schedule: Day shifts, 3 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour days, approximately 7:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Coverage: Weekdays, some weekends, and rotating holidays
• Orientation: 36 hours
• Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:3, with ratios up to 1:4 depending on assignment

Travel PCU RN Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent PCU, stepdown, intermediate care, or progressive care nursing experience
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio or a valid compact-state license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records
• Strong telemetry monitoring and IV-start skills
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients with complex medical-surgical and cardiac conditions
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and provide care involving cardiac monitoring, heparin protocols, insulin infusions, central lines, and high-flow oxygen
• Willingness to float to units with equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• Education from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program

PCU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric PCU patients in a fast-paced, collaborative healthcare environment
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate clinical outcomes
• Monitor telemetry, recognize changes in patient condition, and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias
• Manage cardiac drips without titration, heparin protocols, and insulin infusions according to established protocols
• Perform IV starts and provide peripheral and central line care and management
• Care for patients requiring high-flow and heated high-flow oxygen therapy
• Collaborate with providers, respiratory services, pharmacy, rehabilitation, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Float to appropriate units when needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
• Educate patients and families, document care accurately in EPIC, and support a positive patient experience
