• Healthcare Unit: Labor & Delivery with postpartum and newborn care
• Unit Profile: Approximately 11 rooms and 15 beds, with an average daily census of 15-20 patients
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,480-$2,610
• Floating: May float within the nurse’s scope of practice to support staffing needs, including nearby affiliated facilities

Labor & Delivery Travel Nurse Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Postpartum and newborn care experience preferred
• Current Registered Nurse license in California; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
• Current BLS, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP certifications
• Recent experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients preferred
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical record documentation
• Experience with night shifts, cesarean-section circulation, labor management, and newborn assessment
• Ability to provide two professional references covering at least one year of experience within the past three years
• Flexibility to work weekends and designated holidays as required by the assignment schedule

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, postpartum, antepartum, and high-risk obstetric patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpret fetal heart rate patterns, and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, and cesarean sections; circulate for cesarean procedures as needed
• Administer and monitor oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensive medications, antiseizure medications, insulin infusions, and other prescribed therapies
• Manage epidural anesthesia, IV infusions, fetal monitoring equipment, intrauterine pressure catheters, and related labor-support procedures
• Assess and care for newborns, including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia monitoring, cord care, identification procedures, and newborn screening
• Support breastfeeding and lactation education, discharge teaching, car-seat education, and family-centered care
• Recognize and respond to obstetric emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, and abnormal fetal or maternal assessments
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Epic
• Collaborate with respiratory services, pharmacy, radiology, social services, interpretation services, rapid response teams, and other members of the care team
