PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Canton, Ohio
Bring your progressive care and stepdown nursing expertise to a 26-bed respiratory PCU in Canton, Ohio. This travel RN opportunity offers the chance to care for patients with complex cardiopulmonary and medical conditions while working alongside a collaborative team of nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, IV specialists, and support staff. PCU Travel RN Job Details
- Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Respiratory Stepdown
- Location: Canton, Ohio
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,950-$2,060
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
- Shift: 7:00 AM-7:00 PM
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- Unit: 26-bed respiratory stepdown unit with an average daily census of 25
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 5:1
- Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Call Requirement: None
- Floating: Other stepdown units requiring the same level of care
- Documentation and Equipment: Cerner EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitoring systems
Travel Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, stepdown, respiratory, or comparable acute-care nursing experience
- Associate degree or nursing certificate
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience caring for complex medical and cardiopulmonary patients preferred
- First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, pulmonary embolism, gastrointestinal bleeding, and other complex conditions
- Care for patients requiring ventilator support, high-flow oxygen, and continuous intravenous therapies
- Monitor and manage infusions including amiodarone, Cardizem, Lasix, Bumex, and dobutamine according to established protocols
- Perform tracheostomy care, chest tube management, peripheral IV starts, and ongoing respiratory assessments
- Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate promptly with providers and the interdisciplinary care team
- Safely administer medications, document care in Cerner, and maintain accurate patient records
- Promote patient safety, mobility, education, discharge readiness, and continuity of care
- Participate in unit orientation, scheduled weekend and holiday rotations, and floating assignments as needed
