Travel RN Job Details

• Contract: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Unit: 34-bed Cardiac Renal Unit
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:4-5 on day shifts
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Three weekends within each six-week schedule and every other holiday
• Floating: First to float within skillset; occasional cross-campus floating may be required with advance notice
• Orientation: 12 hours
• Location: Newburgh, Indiana, near the greater Evansville area

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license; current compact RN license required
• Associate degree or nursing certificate
• At least 2 years of strong cardiac and telemetry nursing experience
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience and completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Level II trauma experience preferred or required for assignment consideration
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Recent Epic charting experience; completion of a telemetry competency assessment and Epic checkoff may be required
• Ability to interpret telemetry rhythms and 12-lead EKGs and successfully complete required telemetry testing
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Adaptability, resilience, and a collaborative approach to patient care

Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with cardiac, renal, and complex medical conditions
• Care for patients following heart catheterization, ablation, pacemaker placement, and other cardiac procedures
• Monitor and manage patients with atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, end-stage renal disease, congestive heart failure, sepsis, and behavioral health or detox needs
• Interpret telemetry rhythms and 12-lead EKGs while promptly identifying changes in patient condition
• Manage cardiac and other intravenous medication drips, including Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, Lasix, and Protonix
• Perform peripheral IV insertion and provide central line care
• Recover post-cardiac catheterization patients, including care of femoral access sites and TR bands
• Provide chest tube, indwelling drain, nephrostomy tube, and continuous bladder irrigation care
• Support renal biopsy patients and those requiring CIWA or detox protocols
• Float within the assigned skillset as needed and maintain safe care during changing unit demands
• Precept students and newly hired staff when assigned
• Maintain accurate Epic documentation and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
