• Patient Ratios: Typically 4:1, with assignments up to 6:1 as needed
• Floating: Other medical-surgical and telemetry units, forensic and inpatient units, emergency department, and postpartum

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical registered nursing experience in an inpatient or acute care setting
• Current, active Registered Nurse license in Tennessee or a compact multistate license at the time of submission
• Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications; MAB certification may be accepted in place of CPI
• Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical judgment skills
• Experience with or willingness to perform telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insertion and maintenance, blood product administration, isolation precautions, wound care, and tracheostomy care
• Ability to provide compassionate, professional care to underserved, homeless, underinsured, insured, and forensic or correctional patient populations
• Comfort with floating to other inpatient units according to staffing needs
• Ability to complete required pre-employment testing, including an EKG assessment

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical patients throughout the night shift
• Perform comprehensive assessments, administer medications and treatments, and evaluate patient responses to care
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, recognize changes in patient condition, and initiate appropriate interventions
• Manage peripheral IVs, blood products, PCA therapy, wounds, wound vacs, tracheostomies, and other common medical-surgical needs
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with providers and the interdisciplinary care team
• Use appropriate isolation precautions and personal protective equipment to promote patient and staff safety
• Float to designated medical-surgical, telemetry, forensic, emergency, postpartum, and other inpatient units as assigned
• Provide respectful, trauma-informed care while maintaining professionalism and sound judgment in a correctional or forensic care environment
• Participate in weekend and holiday scheduling rotations as required for the assignment
