Travel Physical Therapist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,170-$2,330
• Location: Valdez, Alaska
• Healthcare Setting: Critical access hospital with outpatient physical therapy, inpatient rehabilitation, and skilled nursing services
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Days; five 8-hour shifts per week, with a potential four 10-hour shift schedule
• Shift Duration: 8-hour days, approximately 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Hours: 40 hours per week; 72 guaranteed hours every two weeks
• Call: Not required
• Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics
• Assignment Features: Block scheduling may be accommodated; time-off requests are reviewed individually

Physical Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional Physical Therapist experience
• Current Alaska Physical Therapist license or applicable compact privilege in hand at submission
• Current BLS certification
• Recent clinical experience in outpatient physical therapy; acute care and skilled nursing experience required
• Experience with electronic charting systems
• Ability to treat patients with orthopedic, neurologic, post-operative, spinal, and mobility-related conditions
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning, and patient education skills
• Two professional references covering at least 1 year of experience within the past 3 years
• Previous travel physical therapy experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
• Applicants must reside at least 50 miles from the assignment location

Travel Physical Therapist Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and develop individualized physical therapy plans of care
• Provide evidence-based physical therapy treatment in outpatient, inpatient, and skilled nursing settings
• Treat patients across the lifespan, including adolescents, adults, pediatrics, and older adults
• Support recovery for orthopedic, neurological, post-operative, and mobility-related diagnoses
• Address conditions such as cervicalgia, low back pain, joint replacements, spinal disorders, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury
• Implement therapeutic exercise, mobility training, body mechanics instruction, and home exercise programs
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, safety, functional progress, and continued care
• Document evaluations, interventions, progress, and discharge recommendations accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team to promote safe transitions and optimal functional outcomes
