Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Norfolk, VA
Take your cardiac stepdown nursing expertise to Norfolk, Virginia, in this 13-week travel RN contract for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN). This on-site opportunity is ideal for a progressive care nurse who is ready to support patients recovering from cardiac procedures and surgery in a hospital setting.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Location: Norfolk, Virginia
- Unit: Cardiac Procedural & Surgical Unit
- Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Progressive Care / Telemetry
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130-$2,250
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks, through February 1, 2027
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Openings: 2
Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
- At least 1 year of recent acute-care nursing experience
- Progressive care, cardiac stepdown, telemetry, or post-surgical nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work scheduled 12-hour night shifts in an on-site hospital setting
- Strong cardiac assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and patient-monitoring skills
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in a cardiac stepdown and procedural-surgical environment
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, pain levels, and changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders and established protocols
- Assess patients before and after cardiac procedures and surgical interventions
- Recognize and respond promptly to clinical deterioration or cardiac-related complications
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized treatment plans
- Educate patients and families regarding recovery, medications, procedures, and discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation while promoting safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care
