Physical Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of Physical Therapy experience in an inpatient or acute care setting
• Master’s degree in Physical Therapy
• Current California Physical Therapist license
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Demonstrated experience treating orthopedic and neurological conditions
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and time-management skills
• Experience with electronic health records; Epic experience is preferred

Inpatient Physical Therapist Responsibilities

• Evaluate adult and geriatric patients and develop individualized plans of care
• Provide inpatient physical therapy interventions for acute medical, orthopedic, neurological, and post-surgical conditions
• Perform gait training, therapeutic exercises, mobility training, transfers, and functional assessments
• Use appropriate assistive devices, adaptive equipment, gait belts, walkers, wheelchairs, and transfer equipment
• Educate patients and caregivers on safety, mobility, home exercise programs, and discharge recommendations
• Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation professionals, interpretation services, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Document evaluations, treatments, reassessments, goals, and progress accurately and promptly in the electronic health record
• Support safe discharge planning and recommend appropriate equipment, follow-up care, and community resources
