Orthopedic Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Contract in Asheville, North Carolina
Join our orthopedic travel nursing team in Asheville, NC, for a 13-week Registered Nurse contract caring for post-surgical patients on a collaborative 32-bed unit. This travel nursing assignment offers supportive nurse-to-patient ratios, modern patient-care equipment, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact throughout each patient’s surgical recovery. Travel Nursing Job Details

- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800-$1,890
- Start Date: September 20, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 6:45 p.m.-7:15 a.m.
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
- Documentation System: Cerner
- Floating: May float to other medical-surgical units
Orthopedic Travel Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- At least 1 year of professional nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Orthopedic nursing or hospital nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, communication, and clinical judgment skills
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
Orthopedic Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to orthopedic and post-surgical patients
- Assess patients, develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, and evaluate outcomes
- Monitor recovery, pain management, mobility, neurovascular status, and postoperative complications
- Perform dressing changes and suture or staple removal according to orders and facility policy
- Provide Foley catheter and nasogastric tube care
- Maintain and remove wound vacuum therapy equipment as indicated
- Educate patients and families about recovery, mobility, safety, and discharge planning
- Collaborate with providers, therapists, nursing assistants, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
- Use safe patient-handling equipment and follow established clinical and patient-safety standards
- Adapt to changing unit needs while maintaining a calm, compassionate, and professional approach
