Travel Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) Jobs – Acute Inpatient Behavioral Health in Moosic, PA
Join a new acute inpatient behavioral health hospital in Moosic, Pennsylvania, as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) on a 13-week travel nursing assignment. Support adult and geriatric patients experiencing mental health, behavioral health, substance use, and addiction-related disorders while working near the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre metro area.
Located in northeastern Pennsylvania, Moosic offers convenient access to outdoor recreation, nearby ski resorts, and easy travel to the New York and New Jersey border.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,640-$1,730
- Location: Moosic, Pennsylvania
- Healthcare Setting: Acute inpatient behavioral health hospital
- Assignment Dates: October 12, 2026 – January 10, 2027
- Contract Duration: 13-week travel nursing assignment
- Schedule: 36 hours per week
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: As assigned
- Patient Population: Adults through geriatric patients, with adolescent services anticipated to open during the assignment
- Orientation: 3-5 days, including de-escalation training
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic, with paper charting for restraint events
- Medication System: Omnicell with on-site pharmacy support
- Uniform: Gray scrubs
Psychiatric RN Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Active Pennsylvania RN license at the time of submission
- At least 1 year of recent behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including assigned weekends and holidays
- Strong communication, clinical judgment, and patient safety skills
- Experience caring for patients with mental health, behavioral health, substance use, and addiction-related disorders
Psychiatric Registered Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in an acute inpatient behavioral health environment
- Complete psychiatric and nursing assessments, monitor changes in condition, and communicate clinical concerns to the treatment team
- Administer medications safely and accurately using established protocols and the Omnicell medication system
- Support patients experiencing psychiatric symptoms, behavioral challenges, substance use disorders, and addiction-related concerns
- Use therapeutic communication, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques to promote a safe care environment
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in Epic and complete required paper documentation for restraint events
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to implement individualized treatment plans
- Promote patient dignity, safety, recovery, and continuity of care throughout the travel nursing assignment
