Travel CST Job Details

• Location: Asheville, North Carolina
• Assignment Dates: October 12, 2026 – December 14, 2026
• Duration: 9-week travel surgical technologist assignment
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,810-$1,940
• Shift: 10-hour day shifts, approximately 6:00 AM-4:30 PM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Call: On-call shifts assigned and rotated among staff
• Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Unit: Six-operating-room CVOR with a collaborative surgical team
• Floating: Infrequent floating may be required based on operational needs

Travel Surgical Technologist Requirements

• At least 1 year of operating room experience, with extensive CVOR experience required
• At least 2 completed travel assignments
• Current CST/ORT certification is mandatory
• Current BLS certification
• Demonstrated expertise in the scrub role for complex cardiovascular and cardiothoracic procedures
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room safety practices
• First Assist experience and proficiency preferred but not required
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and adapt to a fast-paced surgical environment

CVOR Surgical Technologist Responsibilities

• Perform as the primary scrub technologist for cardiovascular, cardiothoracic, and vascular procedures
• Prepare the operating room, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for scheduled cases
• Maintain a sterile field and anticipate the needs of surgeons and the surgical team throughout each procedure
• Support procedures including CABG, valve replacement, VAD insertion, TAVR, VATS, lobectomy, pacemaker/AICD insertion, septal myectomy, Ross procedures, EVH, IABP insertion, femoral cannulation, and circulatory arrest
• Assist with accurate counts, specimen handling, surgical safety checks, and operating room turnover
• Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and other perioperative team members to promote safe, efficient patient care
• Provide on-call coverage as assigned and maintain readiness for emergent cardiovascular cases
