Job Details
- Setting: Outpatient chemotherapy and blood infusion center
- Location: Charleston, WV
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 8-hour day shifts, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Hours Per Week: 40
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,870 – $1,970
- Orientation: 16 hours; held every other Thursday
- Charting System: Cerner
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Daily Census: Approximately 70-80 patients
- On-Call: Not required
- Floating: Not required
Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in West Virginia or a compact state; pending license may be accepted for submission
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BLS certification required
- Experience with infusion center nursing preferred
- Inpatient and outpatient oncology nursing experience preferred
- Experience with port access and management, chemotherapy administration, and chemotherapy monitoring preferred
- Experience with radiation safety and related treatment workflows preferred
- Ability to work within a high-volume, patient-centered environment
- Permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the assignment location
- Flu vaccine required unless there is a documented medical exemption
- First-time travelers are welcome
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, compassionate infusion nursing care to adult and geriatric patients
- Administer chemotherapy and blood products according to established protocols
- Monitor patients for treatment tolerance, side effects, and changes in condition
- Manage venous access devices, including ports, and support infusion therapy needs
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary oncology team to support timely, coordinated patient care
- Maintain accurate documentation in Cerner
- Support a high-volume clinic workflow while maintaining quality and patient safety
- Follow radiation safety standards and unit-specific treatment procedures
- Contribute to a positive, efficient environment for patients receiving oncology infusion services
