- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Charting System: Epic
- Float Requirement: May float to other acute care oncology units within scope of practice
Job Requirements
- Active RN license in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of total acute care nursing experience
- At least 1 year of PCU / stepdown experience
- Current acute care experience required
- Experience with mixed-acuity med-surg and stepdown patients preferred
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
- Experience with Epic charting required
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability in a busy clinical environment
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to stepdown and PCU patients
- Monitor and manage patients with complex surgical oncology and cardiac-related needs
- Administer chemotherapy, IV antibiotics, blood transfusions, insulin drips, and heparin drips as indicated
- Support care for patients experiencing oncologic emergencies and cytokine release syndrome
- Perform cardiac telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias
- Manage chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP support, tracheostomy care, and related respiratory needs within scope
- Maintain a strong focus on infection prevention and fall prevention practices
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to ensure safe, efficient patient care
- Adapt to a fast-paced acute care unit where priorities may change based on census and staffing needs
