- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
- Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,810 – $1,940
- Schedule Style: Self-scheduling model with unit leadership support
Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
- Level IV NICU experience required
- Experience working with pediatric critical care and NICU populations
- Ability to work in high-risk deliveries, PICU, NICU, and acute care pediatric settings
- Current RRT certification required
- BLS and NRP required
- Virginia state license required; pending license accepted if temporary license can be obtained before start
- Another active state license required to qualify for temporary licensing
- ACCS preferred
- PALS preferred
- Flu vaccination required
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced respiratory care to neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across multiple hospital units
- Support NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatric patients
- Assist with intubation, extubation, airway management, and neonatal transports
- Operate and remain competent with specialized equipment, including Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
- Perform and interpret key respiratory procedures and therapies such as ABGs, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and aerosol treatments
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
- Work flexibly across all units within the children’s hospital as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow all unit and facility policies
