Job Details

• Position: Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Setting: Children’s hospital environment supporting neonatal, pediatric, and critical care patients
• Location: Charlottesville, VA
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Day shift, 4×12-hour schedule
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,810 – $1,940
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday; must work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Start Date: October 12, 2026

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
• Experience in Level IV NICU settings required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Active Respiratory Therapist credential required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Virginia state license required; pending license accepted if a temporary license can be obtained before the start date and the candidate holds another active state license
• PALS preferred
• ACCS preferred
• Must be competent with Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work across multiple units within the children’s hospital

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents across NICU, PICU, and acute pediatric settings
• Support high-risk deliveries and neonatal transports as needed
• Perform and assist with advanced respiratory procedures, including intubation support, extubation, CPAP/BiPAP, HFNC, and ventilator management
• Manage and monitor specialized respiratory equipment in complex care areas
• Deliver care for patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including respiratory distress, chronic pulmonary conditions, and critical care needs
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the broader multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Float within scope of practice to support multiple pediatric and neonatal units
• Maintain compliance with unit scheduling, weekend, and holiday expectations
