Job Details

• Position: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) / Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Setting: Hospital / Pediatric specialty care
• Location: Charlottesville, VA / 22908 — a welcoming city with historic charm, a vibrant downtown, and easy access to scenic Blue Ridge outdoor recreation
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (07:00 – 19:00)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Self-scheduling model; every other weekend required
• Coverage Options: May offer 36 or 48 hours
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,810 – $1,940

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
• Active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license or pending license able to be obtained before start
• RRT certification required
• BLS and NRP required
• PALS preferred
• ACCS preferred
• Experience in Level IV NICU care required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Competency in neonatal and pediatric respiratory care required
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced children’s hospital environment
• Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care across NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatric units
• Perform advanced respiratory interventions for critically ill neonates and children
• Assist with intubation, extubation, airway support, and ventilator management
• Operate specialized equipment, including the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
• Support neonatal transport and inter-departmental patient care needs
• Deliver compassionate, family-centered care while maintaining strong communication with the multidisciplinary care team
• Float within scope of practice as needed across pediatric hospital units
• Participate in a self-scheduling workflow and maintain weekend coverage expectations
