• Setting: Children’s hospital | NICU, PICU, and acute pediatric care
• Employment Type: Travel Respiratory Therapist
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Contract Duration: 13 or 26 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Weekly Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Schedule: Self-scheduling model; every other weekend required
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,810 – $1,940

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
• Level IV NICU experience required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Current RRT certification required
• BLS and NRP required
• Virginia state license required; pending license accepted if temp eligibility can be obtained before start
• Another active state license required for temporary license eligibility
• ACCS certification preferred
• Must be comfortable floating within scope across children’s hospital units
• Flu vaccine required

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents
• Support patients in the NICU, PICU, high-risk delivery, and acute pediatric care areas
• Perform airway management, ventilator support, and critical respiratory interventions
• Operate advanced respiratory equipment, including the Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members in a multidisciplinary environment
• Assist with respiratory diagnostics, treatments, and emergency interventions as needed
• Maintain strong communication, critical thinking, and clinical judgment in high-acuity settings
• Float throughout the children’s hospital within scope of practice to support patient care needs
